Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain the property of a yam immediately after the gathering, and to improve the production rate, by cutting the unpeeled yam, and by rapidly freezing and pulverizing the pieces.
CONSTITUTION: A yam is washed, without peeling, cut or pulverized and stored in the tank 1. The cut or pulverized material is then fed from the screw conveyor 2 to the intermediate tank 3 comprising the inlet for liquid nitrogen piping (A), outlet of pipeline (D) for adjusting material and internal pressure, inlet of piping (C) for adjusting fine powder-containing gas and internal pressure. The material is frozen at -5W-6°C, preferably -20°C or below, in the tank 3, and fed from the screw conveyor 4, and pulverized in the rotating disc impact pulverizer 5, whose temperature is controlled by the sensor, and controller 8, and solenoid valve 9 with liquid nitrogen from the tank 11.
