Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a soft Al alloy conductor with superior elongation, electric conductivity, tensile strength and yield strength by hot working an Al-Fe alloy ingot of a specified compsn. in a predetermined temp. range followed by immediate cold working and final annealing. CONSTITUTION:An Al-Fe ingot consisting of Fe 1.0-2.0%, and the balance Al and usual impurities is reheated to 350-550 deg.C and hot worked at a starting temp. of 350-550 deg.C and a working rate of 95% or more in the temp. range of 250 deg.C or above. During this hot working Fe is precipitated as much as possible and finely dispersed. Next the hot worked alloy is cold worked to the final size through no process softening, thereby finely dispersing many Al3Fe particles. Final annealing is then carried out to manufacture a soft Al alloy conductor having an electric conductivity of 61% JACS or more, an elongation of 20% or more, a tensile strength of 12kg/mm<2> or more and a yield strength of 8kg/mm<2> or more.
