Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sour gas resistance by forming the working layer of the specific thickness on the inside surface or inside and outside surfaces of oil well pipes and line pipes by shot peening or other methods. CONSTITUTION:A working layer is provided on the inside surface or inside and outside surfaces of the oil well pipes equivalent to 5A, 5AX, 5AC in API standard and the line pipes equivalent to 5L, 5LX, 5LS, 5LU by shot peening, embossing, grinding or the like. This working layer is formed to a thickness or 0.5mu or more per surface of the both inside and outside surfaces of the pipe, more than 1/2 the plate thickness in total. This working layer forms a dense and stable anti-corrosion film under sour gas environment, thereby considerably improving sour gas resistance charactertistics such as hydrogen blister resistance, corrosion to hydrogen sulfide or sulfide corrosion cracking resistance.
