Abstract
PURPOSE: To mold a flange and a large thickness portion, which is at the opposite side of the flange, of a flanged pipe without causing the pipe to be constricted, by using as a restriction member a multi-divided cylinder slidingly movable into a mold, whereby an extrusion left-over material is extruded into a large thickness portion molding space in the mold.
CONSTITUTION: After a flange has been molded, a pipe body 1 extruded to obtain a pipe 15 which an extrusion left-over material D remaining in a mold 10. The pipe 15 is inserted into the mold 10 containing the material D therein. An extrusion punch 14 is then forced into the mold 10 to allow the left-over material D to be moved into a large thickness portion molding space 13 until the large thickness portion has a diameter (d). The extrusion punch 14 is further forced into the mold to extrude a large thickness portion T while raising members 12, 12' of a multi-divided cylinder. The molding operation is conducted in the above-described manner. When the tip 14' of the punch 14 passes a joint portion E, a sudden variation in contraction percentage of area may occur. However, the members 12, 12' of multi-divided cylinder work as restriction members. Accordingly, the extruded product is never constricted.
