Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize a yellow dye image by dispersion-adding a specified yellow coupler to a silver halide photosensitive emulsion with a water soluble high b.p. organic solvent and removing 90% or more of the solvent content from a photosensitive material through photographic processing. CONSTITUTION:As a yellow coupler a compound represented by formula I [where X is a group to be released in color development; R is H, halogen or alkoxy; and R1 is a group of formula II, III or IV (where R3 is alkyl)], e.g. the compound of formula V is used. This coupler is dissolved in a water soluble high b.p. organic solvent such as 2-ethyl hexanol or benzyl acetate having a solubility of 0.1g or more in 100g water at 20 deg.C, and this solution is emulsification-dispersed in a silver halide emulsion in an amt. of about 10-300g as coupler per mol of silver halide. A hotographic material using the resulting emulsion is imagewise-exposed and processed, thereby shifting 90% or more of the solvent into a processing liquid to remove the solvent from the material.
