Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesivness of Al layer and iron base sintering material by limiting the voids of the iron base sintering material containing the specific amounts of C and Cr and subjecting the same to pretreatment with hydrochloric acid then subjecting it to aluminizing treatment through hot dipping at the time of enclosing the iron base sintering material with Al alloy.
CONSTITUTION: The components of the iron base sintering alloy are so formulated as to contain Ni, No, W, Co, etc. containing C; 3W4%, Cr: 0.3W30% and the voids thereof are made 10% or less. Next, this iron base sintering material is subjected to known pretreatment by hydrochloric acid, after which it is subjected to aluminizing treatment through hot dipping, whereby an Al layer is formed. According to this method, the Al layer is formed in the form of being entered into pits (the depth of pits is about 0.3mm or less) and therefore its adhesiveness is much improved. The material is suited particularly for applications such as chip enclosure of rocker arms made of Al for internal combustion engines.
