Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the surface treatment of a large-sized fruit vegetable, by using a surface treating machine comprising two pairs of brush rollers arranged in parallel crosses and a plate brush inserted between the lower pair of brush rollers, wherein one of the upper brush rollers is linked with the plate brush and can be shifted to adjust the gap between the upper rollers by vertically shifting the plate brush.
CONSTITUTION: A surface treating machine (e.g. cleaning machine) for fruit vegetables, which comprises a pair of lower brush rollers 1, 1', a plate brush 3 inserted between said bursh rollers 1 and 1' and movable in a vertical line, a pair of upper brush rollers 8, 8' arranged in parallel crosses to the lower rollers 1, 1', a tiltable frame 12 supporting one of the upper rollers 8', and a foot lever 18 for the lifting and lowering of the plate brush 3 and the shifting of the frame 12. As the plate brush 3 is lifted, the gap between the upper brush rollers 8 and 8' is narrowed, vice versa. When the foot lever 18 is pressed, the fruit vegetables 31 are charged into the space encircled by the rollers 1, 1', 8 and 8', and cleaned by the action of the brush rollers. The machine is driven by a motor 33. The foot lever 18 may be pressed automatically in place of by foot.
