Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the water retentivity, ink attachability, etc. of a lithographic printing plate by adding a hydrophilic high molecular compound, gelatin and fine grain powder to one or more constitutive layers of the plate using a silver image portion, as an ink receiver, formed by a photographic process. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic high molecular compound is used having repeated units of formula I, II or the like, an MW of about 20,000-200,000, and carboxylic acid groups or carboxylic acid ester groups. Gelatin and the compound are blended in a ratio of about 1:0.01-3 by wt., and about 20wt% or more of fine grain powder of 2-10mu in grain size, preferably silica powder is blended into the resulting hydrophilic high molecular binder. This blend is then added to at least one constitutive layer of a printing plate.
