Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a direction detector involving no human judgement by detecting magnetic direction with the earth magnetism converted into an electric signal.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow ball 2 filled with a proper amount of liquid is fixed to a matter retaining mechanism 1. A buoyancy bag 42 is provided on the inner top of the ball 2 and a magnet 44 at the bottom thereof. A float 4 having a photoconductive path 41a for having light passing through is provided at a part of the top. As a result, responsive to the earth mechanism, the float 4 can move freely. On the other hand, a light emitting element 8 is mounted to a substrate 7 surrounding the ball 2 while a number of holes 11 are arranged on a retaining mechanism 1 in such a manner that the surrounding wall is equally divided. A photo detector 9 and a photoelectric switch are mounted to each hole. With such an arrangement, depending on which photoelectric switches work, the maximum magnetic direction can be indicated by the electric signal, involving no human judgement.
