Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an arrangement capable of changing the amount of eccentricity of crank by turning an adjustment screw provided at one end of crank shaft. CONSTITUTION:Cylindrical crank shaft 1 is journalled in freely rotatable manner by bearing 11 fixed in case 10 and it is turned by worm 12 and worm gear 13. At one end of crank shaft 1, there is provided crank supporting member 14 perpendicularly to the shaft 1. Inside the crank support member 14 at opposite ends of the same, there is provided an adjustment screw 2 in freely rotatable manner and these screws 2 extend perpendicularly to the crank shaft 1. They are held in mesh with respective internal thread 3a formed in an extension of crank 3. In the above arrangement, adjustment of the stroke of connecting rod 4 can be achieved by bringing movable bevel gear 7 into engagement with fixed bevel gear 5 through operation of shifting means 9 and then turning a control shaft 6 by means 8 consisting of sprocket 16 provided on hollow shaft 15, chain 16, sprocket 18 provided on intermediate shaft 17 and handle 23.
