Abstract

PURPOSE:To substantially weaken power density and prevent defects such as spike by measuring ripples, detecting the vertical vibrations of an electron beam focus, feeding back the same and deflecting and vibrating the electron beam at high frequencies. CONSTITUTION:The electron beam 2 created by a high voltage power source 5 and electron gun 1 is throttled by a converging lens 3 and hits against the welding works 9, thereby melting these. The focus of the electron beam 2 is vertically vibrated with time by the ripples contained in a high voltage power source 5. The voltage 7B across the low resistance 7 is applied to a band-pass filter 10 to separate the main ripple components 10B. The output 10B is applied to a comparator 11 and the output 12B of the transmitter 12 is applied to a power amplifier 8. Then if an electron beam deflecting lens 4 is excited and the electron beam is deflected, the electron beam vibrates when the focus of the electron beam approaches to the penetration end, resulting in substantially decreased power density of the electron beam.
