Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance photosensitivity, by adding an anionic surfactant to an organic pbotoconductor layer to exhibit synergistic effect between a chemical sensitizer and a sensitizing dye.
CONSTITUTION: On a conductive substrate are coated and dried an orgsanic solution containg an organic photoconductor, such as mixture of polyvinylcarbazole or the like polymer, or a compound of aryl amines, and a film forming polymer; a sensitizing dye such as rhodamine B; and an anionic surfactant such as sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate. This surfactant prevents troubles, such as agglomeration of the sensitizing dye or deterioration of transparency due to occurrence of turbidity, resulting in forming a uniform photoconductor layer. Moreover, the combination of the sensitizing dye, the chemical sensitizer, and the surfactant exhibit a synergistic effect and remarkably enhance photosensitivity.
