Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the cable which is safely protected even at extremely high temperatures and fire by disposing a cylindrical metal sheath to the inside of the fire-retardant plastic sheath of the optical cable core.
CONSTITUTION: Optical fiber cores 6 are aggregated in laminar form by way of intervening cords or copper clad wires 5 for communication on the tension body 4 placed at the center of the cable and further top-winding tapes 7 are applied thereon to constitute the optical cable core. Since a fire-retardant plastic sheath 9 and a cylindrical metal sheath 8 on the inside surface thereof are disposed, the heat and atmosphere upon the optical calbe may be cut off despite the elevation of ambient temperature and even if fire comes over the cable, the cable does not burn because it has the fire-retardant plastic sheath 9.
