Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the field winding end portions to be effectively cooled, by using heat-pipes as fixing spacers to be provided between adjacent conductors wound about field winding end portions and enclosing a cooling medium therein.
CONSTITUTION: Spacers 2 inserted between the adjacent conductors 1 wound about field windig end portions to fix them are formed of heat-pipes, and a cooling medium such as Freon is enclosed in said pipes so that the conductors 1 are cooled by utilizing vaporization latent heat of the cooling medium. Thus, the spacers which hitherto have only reduced the surface area of the conuctors in contact with the cooling gas and hence raised the temperature thereof will provide cooling action by which the conductors 1 can be effectively cooled.
