Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a metallized thermoplastic resin composition consisting of powder of a specific metal, e.g., copper and an ABS resin with improved adhesivity and to improve appearance, by subjecting molded articles of the resin composition to a low-temperature spattering. CONSTITUTION:The surfsce of a molded article obtained from a thermoplastic resin composition, consisting of an ABS resin and not less than 5 wt.%, preferably 5-50 wt.% of powder of a metal selected from the group consisting of brass, copper, lead, and gold, is metalized with many kinds of metallic single substances or alloys according to an electron beam, a high-frequency ionized plating, or a low- temperature spattering method. EFFECT:Spins, hair lines, etc. on a resin surface can be reproduced on a metallic thin film, thus giving a high-class feeling.
