Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a thermally curable adhesive composition giving excellent adhesive strength, by compounding a specific ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with (meth)acrylic monomer and an organic peroxide.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive composition comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing 5 W 50 wt.%, preferably 15 W 40 wt.% of vinyl acetate, (B) 5 W 200 parts by weight of a polymerizable mono (meth)acrylate having a (meth)acryloyl group and one or more hydroxyl groups in the molecule [e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, etc.], (C) ≤ 20 parts by weight of a polymerizable poly(meth)acrylate having two or more (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule [e.g. ethylene glycol di(meth)acrylate, etc.], (D) an organic peroxide, e.g. cumene hydroperoxide, etc., and if necessary (E) a wax, a plasticizer, etc..
