Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the responsibility to temperature change and to make the temperature control range narrow by arranging a temperature detecting element, which is covered with such a refractory resin as has a substance of satisfactory heat conduction mixed, in contact with or in the vicinity of the surface of a heated member.
CONSTITUTION: A heat detector 4 is composed of a refractory resin 5, a holding frame 6 holding the resin, and a detecting element embeded in the resin 5. Silicone rubber is used as the refractory resin, which is mixed with metal powders having excellent thermal conductivity. Aluminum, magnecium and copper are used as the metal powders, which are mixed into the resin to remarkably reduce the temperature control range. The temperature detector 4 detects the surface temperature of a fixing roller 8 to turn on and off heaters 11 and 13 by a control circuit so that the surface temperatures of the fixing roller 8 and the heading roller 9 may be maintained at constant levels.
