Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect an abnormal torque without measuring the push-out force of a push-out mechanism of a stripper crane for pushing an ingot out of a mold and easily control a ram driving motor with high accuracy.
CONSTITUTION: Tongues 1a, 1b of the stripper crane 1 are engaged with lugs 3a, 3b of the mold 3. The mold is lifted slightly. Then, a ram 4 is thrusted by the ram driving motor 11 in the direction of the arrow, thereby, pushing the ingot 5 out of the mold 3. The starting, stoppage and rotational speed of the motor 11 are controlled by a controller 16. The secondary voltage, namely, the output torque of the motor is detected by a secondary voltage detector, and the detection signal is entered into a starting compensation circuit 13. When said secondary voltage exceeds a level corresponding to a predetermined abnormal torque except in starting, the compensation circuit 13 generates a stopping signal to stop the motor 11.
