Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent abrasion and damage of tape by winding the endless magnetic tape on the outside circumferential surface of an annular body with its magnetic surface being faced the inner side.
CONSTITUTION: A tape 21 is wound on the outside circumferential surface of an annular body 22 with its magnetic surface of extremely small surface roughness on the inner side and therefore if the tape 21 is run at a high speed above several m per seconds, an effective air film will be formed between said magnetic surface and the outside circumferential surface of the annular body 22. As a result, the abrasion of the graphite coating surface of the tape 21 hardly occurs and the dislodging of the graphite powder and the increase in the coefficients of friction between the tapes in the tape winding part 21' caused thereby may be prevented.
