Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the quality and the reliability of a CRT by adding titnaium oxide to the composition of a graphite film.
CONSTITUTION: Though the quantity of silicate of a binder over 0.4 for graphite 1 is required for obtaining the minimum adhesion strength for practical use between the inside wall face of a funnel part and a graphite film in the three-components system of graphitie-silicate-titanium oxide, this quantity is set to a value below 5 for graphite 1 considering resistivity increment. For the purpose of having a strength for a spring and a contact piece, it is necessary to add the quantity of titanium oxide over 0.5 for graphite 1. In this case, since resistivity is increased when the guantity of titanium oxide is increased, this quantity is set to a value below 6 for graphite 1. Though metal oxide may be added in stead of titanium oxid, it is inferior in paint characteristic and film characteristic. By this constitution, the expansion of the graphite film is prevented, and the strength for wearing-off generated due to the contact with the contact piece is improved considerably.
