Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the title molded article having improved heat insulating effect and flameproofness free from condensation of water vapor in the air, by applying a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin to a fibrous cellulosic material to which an inorganic flameproofing agent is stuck, followed by compressing and heat- treating the impregnated material.
CONSTITUTION: 5 wt.% or more, preferably 10 wt.% or more of an inorganic flameproofing agent, e.g. ammonium primary phosphate or boric acid, is stuck to a fibrous cellulosic material, and 95 wt.% or more of a thermoplastic resin, e.g. vinyl acetate or vinyl chloride resin, or a thermosetting resin, e.g. phenolic or epoxy resin is applied to the fibrous material. The impregnated material is compressed and heat-treated to give a density of the molded article ≤0.70 g/cm3, preferably ≤0.60 g/cm3.
EFFECT: A molded article having improved flameproofness, dimensional stability, and processability can be obtained.
USE: Heat insulating materials, plywood, hardboard, etc.
