Abstract
PURPOSE: To make use of the difference of coefficient of thermal expansion between capsule and the core provided in the capsule thereof to evolve the tag gas to the cladding tube, ensuring the gas evolution, and obtaining the simple constitution.
CONSTITUTION: The bottom inner section 13 of quartz glass capsule 9 is machined in conic shape, in which the core 12 made of SUS 316 having 10° taper is inserted, closely contacting with capsule end section 13 with the stopper spring 17. Next, the tag is filled from the end 11, the end 11 being weld sealed to form the capsule 9. During manufacturing the fuel assembly, the capsule 9 is heated. Owing to the core having larger coefficient of thermal expansion than the capsule, the capsule is broken by enabling the inner tag gas to evolve surely within the cladding tube 2.
