Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible free inversion of the color of the ground of the liquid crystal display body and the color of formats or partial white and black inversion use of the liquid crystal display body by providing double refracting material between the electrode plate and polarizing plate of the liquid crystal cell.
CONSTITUTION: Natural light 14 enters an upper polarizing plate 7 and transmitted lights 15, 21 are polarized in the arrow directions. Further, they are screened by the lower polarizing plate 12 so that only the polarized light 19 transmits therethrough and is then reflected by a reflecting plate 13 and therefore it becomes bright, while the polarized light 18 becomes dark. If there is no plate 11 in contrast with this, the brightness and darkness are reversed.
