Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Oily and multicomponent oxidation product that is prepared by treating a mixture mainly consisting of α-elemene and δ-elemene resulting from heat dehydration of β-elemol or anα-elemene mixture that is separated from the dehydration product with a peracid.
USE: Perfumes for cosmetics, flavor for food.
PREPARATION: β-Elemol is dehydrated by heating in the presence of an acid catalyst bearing sulfonic groups to give a product mainly containing α-elemene and δ-elemene.
