Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the construction thereby to improve the reliability and endurability of a focal alignment device by using the band signals corresponding to the range bands, which are detected when the range is found and which are divided into plural bands, as control signals.
CONSTITUTION: The light of a light emitting diode 1c of a range finder 1, which is reflected from an object, is so inclined with respect to an optical axis at an angle according to the range to the object as to maximize the quantities of the detected lights from light receiving elements P1 to P6 which are arranged at positions corresponding to the divided range bands. As a result, the range band signals of binary high level are generated from the elements P1 to P6 and are stored in memory elements corresponding to a memory device 2. In accordance with the stored values, AND gates 41 to 46 of a comparator circuit 3 are opened to release the retention by a shutter release so that the lens is topped at the focal point by an electric mechanism through a sliding plate 12 for responsively moving a lens mount 4. Likewise, in accordance with the stored values of the range band signals of elements 2a, 2b and so on, the guide numbers of a flash device and the opening of the shutter are electrically selsected so that a highly reliable and endurable camera, which requires no mechanical sliding mechanism such as a sliding resistor, can be produced.
