Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the longitudinal section of a recording bit into a satisfactory shape by dividing the modulated flat light flux for recording, which contain diffracted lights of high order, into the diffracted lights of zero and first orders, the intensities of which are adjusted.
CONSTITUTION: The laser light flux, the intensity of which is optically codulated in accordance with recording signals , is converted into a flat light flux containing diffracted lights of high order, through a cylindrical lends 8c, a shielding member 8d, a cylindrical lens 8e and a reflecting mirror 9. The light flux is converted through a slit SL of a preset width into diffracted lights of zero and first orders, the intensities of which are adjusted, to illuminate the positive type photoresist of an original disc D which is turned together with a turntable 1. As a result, the longitudinal shape of the recording bit is changed into a satisfactory rectangular shape by the light flux having a preset intensity distribution according to the width wise signals. As a the excellent result, even if a contact type reproducing element is used, it is possible to effect reproduction of less noise and to reduce the damage of the reproducing element.
