Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce higher harmonics by connecting a plurality of windings to be connected to a plurality of poly phase power source containing higher harmonics and having different basic voltage phase in such a manner that the winding phase will coincide with basic voltage phase.
CONSTITUTION: Poly phase transformer 61 employed in variable phase modifier has two windings 81, 82 at inverters 31, 32 side, where the winding 81 is delta connected to the inverter 31 while the winding 82 is star connected to the inverter 32 and the output voltage 31 of inverter 32 leads by 30° from that of inverter 31. Consequently the phase voltages of windings 81, 82 come in-phase for the basic wave while the leakage impedance between windings 81, 82 increases for the higher harmonic voltage to impede unnecessary higher harmonic current, thereby the higher harmonics can be reduced without increasing the number of transformers.
