Abstract
PURPOSE:To readily knurl the tape contact face of a guide drum along the tape lead face by using a knurling die which is provided on a port of it with a notch along the tape lead face. CONSTITUTION:A knurling die 15 and a roller 16 are opposed to both sides of a lower staitonary drum 2 at approximately 180 deg. and are determined at mutally specified heights to assume a mutally parallel state. When the die is pressure contacted to the peripheral surface of the drum 2 under specified storng pressing force, the knurling 16 of the die 15 is pressure contacted to the tape contact face 7 of the drum 2 and the die 15 is escaped by the notch part 17 with respect to the cylindrical part 23 lower than the tape lead face 6 of the drum 2. When in this state the drum 2 is rotation-driven approximately 180 deg., the die 15 rotates about 360 deg. and by the knurling 16 thereof, knurling 10 is worked at one time in the approximately 180 deg. region of the tape contact face 7 of the drum 2. Thereby, the tape contact face of the tape guide drum may be readily knurled along the tape lead face.
