Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the spherical aberration with a small caliber magnet by giving a large thickness at the center part and a small thickness at the both edge parts of the electron beam condensing cylindrical magnet which is distributed at the neck part of a cathode-ray tube.
CONSTITUTION: Permanent magnet 7 of a small caliber featuring a cylindrical form and being magnetized in the axial direction is districuted inside neck part 3 of cathode-ray tube in order to condense the electron beams. In this case, the thickness of magnet 7 is increased (t3) at the center part and decreased at the both end parts (t1, t2) with the length increased in the axial direction respectively. Thus, the magnet features a shape in that the center part swells toward the tube axis. As a result, such magnetic flux distribution can be obtained that the wide and effective focusing function region is ensured for the spherical aberration like a large-caliver magnet and unlike the magnetic flux distribution featuring the reduced magnetic field at the magnet center part in case a small-caliber cylindrical magnet is increased just in the length.
