Abstract

PURPOSE: To change over signal levels automatically corresponding to the length of a transmission cable by extracting a delay pulse made to take a U-turn at the cable conductor of the transmission cable with the other terminal shorted and by varying the level of a transmitting signal depeding upon the delay time.
CONSTITUTION: One-side terminal parts 13 of two cable conductors of transmission line 11 are shorted and U-turn lines 11a and 11b are provided. When it is detected that the power supply is put to work, one pulse generated and compared with the pulse obtained by delaying this pulse by delay circuit 21 via U-turn lines 11a and 11b, so that when the delay time is more than a certain time proportional to the length of transmission line 11, a signal-level change-over pulse will be outputted from line 11c. Consequently, the obtained pulse allows signal level converter part 15 to vary the levels of transmitting signals of the 1st and 2nd devices 14 and 16. As a result, signal levels can be changed over automatically corresponding to the length of the transmission cable.
