Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the current density at the contact plane between the electrode and the welded metal on purpose to improve the welding speed of the seam welding, by providing a projection at the joint plane of the sheet type welded metals, and by carrying out the welding using the welding electrode wider than the breadth of this projection.
CONSTITUTION: The welding current is supplied to the circular disk type welding electrodes 6 and 7; and the welded metals 8 and 9 are pressed, rotated, welded, and continuously delivered. The longitudinal projection 8a is continuously provided in the welded metal 8, so that the welding current is throttled by this projection 8a. Because of that, the current density at the joint plane becoms large. Besides, the current density at the contact planes 10a and 10b between the welding electrodes 6, 7, and welded metals 8, 9, becomes small because of the wide breadth of the tip of welding electrodes 6 and 7; hereby, the temperature rise at the surface of the welded metals 8 and 9 can be restricted low, so that no dust generates and the welding speed can be improved.
