Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the contact angle of defect detecting end to cylindrical member being tested almost constant, by disposing so that the angle formed by the center of rotation of the supporting member of detecting end and the center of the member being tested and the contact point of the detecting end may be about 65 to 75 degrees.
CONSTITUTION: A detecting end 1 is provided on a rotatable supporting member 2 to be the center of rotation P. It is disposed so that the angle formed by this center of rotation P, the point of contact A of the detecting end 1 with a member being tested 3, and the center O of the member being tested 3, namely ∠PAO, may be about 65 to 75 degrees. In order to achieve contact at such angle, the detecting end supporting part 2-2 of the supporting member 2 is bent towards the member being tested. The detecting end 1 is disposed to the member 3 of which radius is r1 at contact angle B of zero, and defect is inspected at the detecting end 1 just opposed to the member 3. When the member being tested 3 changes to member 4 of which radius is larger, r2, the member 2 is rotated, and the detecting end 1 is disposed on the member being tested 4, while the angle B remains zero. Thus, if the radius of the member is changed, the angle B hardly changes. Using only one supporting member, the detecting end 1 can be opposedly disposed without requiring lineers for correction, regardless of the radius of the members being tested.
