Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the flow of a liquid into the pressure vessel side at the time of piping breakage by providing a flow stopper plate at the opening of a through- wall piping in a shielding wall for higher safety of a nuclear reactor.
CONSTITUTION: When the plant is in operation, a shielding block 7 is opened and the fluid flows into a pressure vessel 1 of the nuclear reactor through a piping 3 connected thereto. When a weld line 8 of said piping breaks-off, the fluid flows out through the break-off point but does not flow into the pressure vessel 1 because of a end plate 9a provided at the end of a flow stopping plate 9 constricting the flow passage to the pressure vessel side inside of said opening and flows outside of a shielding wall 2 which has no obstruction in the flow passage thereby preventing a loading to the pressure vessel 1 of the nuclear reactor for improved safety thereof.
