NEW MATERIAL:5-Alkyl-1,5,5-trialkoxy-1-pentene-3-yne of formula I (R1, R2 R3 are methyl ethyl, propyl, butyl, and other lower alkyls, R1 is preferably methyl).
EXAMPLE: 1,5,5-Timethoxy-1-hexene-3yne of formula I where R1, R2, R3 are methyls.
USE: Hypnotics, antibacterial agent, an intermediate of 2-alkyl-4H-pyrane-4-one of formula II that is used to synthesize maltol.
PREPARATION: The reaction between 1-alkoxy-1-butene-3-yne of general formula R3OCH=CH-C=CH and an orthocarboxylic acid of R1C(OR2)3 is conducted in the presence of a Friedel-Craft's type catalyst of metal halide such as aluminum chloride or zinc chloride to afford the compound of formula I.
