Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable various wastes to be treated readily and economically and make possible effective utilization of solids by adding boric acid (salt) to the wastes in performing heat-melting treatment of wastes such as sludge, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Wastes such as sludge, etc. produced from various waste solutions such as potable water, sewer water, raw sewage and others are dried and boric acid or its salt is added thereto to turn them to solids through heat-melting. Orthoboric acid, metaboric acid, tetraboric acid, boron oxide, etc. are used for the boric acid and borax, etc, for the borate. The amount of addition is 1 to 100 parts as B2O3 per 100 parts of the wastes, preferably 3 to 30 parts and the melt treating temperature is 700 to 1500°C.
