Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to cut-off a short-circuit at a remote end, which is not detected economically at a substation, without an operation of a substation breaker.
CONSTITUTION: With supplying electricity to a distribution line, electricity is supplied to an operating cirucit 4 from a power transformer 5 and a main circuit contact 3 of a switchgear is closed. In this state, if an accident occurs at a load end 9 of the distributing line, a current more than the breaking capacity of the main circuit contact 3 flows ordinalily in a main circuit conductor 2. An overcurrent relay 8 detects this accidental current and the main circuit contact 3 is released by releasing a contact 8b. When a current less than the breaking capacity of the main circuit contact 3, with adding a current through a terminal B from a through type current transformer 6, the main circuit contact 3 is not released but a breaker of a substation is operated. By this means, a short circuit current is disappeared and the main circuit contact 3 is released.
