Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fork device which is improved in the reduction in the thickness of the fork and the housing efficiency through a free sliding of forks at each stage by means of a sliding plate equipped with set screws provided between respective stages of a multi-stage fork.
CONSTITUTION: In a multi-stage fork used for stacker cranes for three-dimensional warehouses wherein a luggage carrier 8 is fitted with a fixed fork 11 to which a first-stage fork 12 and a second-stage fork 13, sliding plates 15, 16 and 21 each equipped with set screws 17 and 22 are interposed between the respective forks 11, 12 and 13 while the first-stage fork 12 is driven with a gear 14 and the second-stage fork with a rack 18, pinion 19 and a rack 20. With such an arrangement, reduction in the thickness of the forks 12 and 13 is possible while the vertical and horizontal adjustment of the gap of the sliding surface can be made by moving the sliding plates 15, 16 and 21 with the set screws 17 and 22 thereby regulating the displacement of the tip of the fork.
