Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deposition of phosphate scale to the heating surface of a sterilizer, by separately sterilizing the phosphate component of the culturing medium and the other components, and supplying the sterilized components to a culturing tank.
CONSTITUTION: Storage tanks 1, 2, and 3 contain a medium for vegetable tissue culture which lacks phosphate component, clean water, and a solution of phosphate, respectively. The contents of the tanks 1, 2, and 3 are sent to a continuous heat sterilizer 8 continuously and separately, by a metering pump 7 with a sequence of 1,2,3,2,1,2,3, etc., by automatically opening the valves 4,5 6. The undesirable residue of the phosphate on the heating surface of the sterilizer is washed off each time, and the deposition of scale prevented.
