Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an automatic timer by which fuel injection timing appropriate for an engine can be attained in order to improve the starting preformance of the engine at a low temperature and to reduce the amount of uncombusted hydrocarbons contained in exhaust gas during idling of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In operation at a low atmospheric temperature, wax 21 is contracted to permit a needle 27 to be advanced into a temperature responsive vessel 20 by a balancing spring 23 so that a lower flange 29 of an adjuster 22 is forced down to extend a distance l below the bottom face 30 of a fly weight 13, thus changing the relative stationary contact position between the flyweight 13 and a stopper 18 in accordance with the temperature then. Accordingly, at the starting of the engine at a low atmospheric temperature, and during idling of the engine, the paint of time of fuel injection by a fuel injection pump is progressed. The fly weight 13 is fiited on a pair of bearing pins 12 on a holder 11 which is attached to the cam shaft of the fuel injection pump.
