Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the intergranular corrosion resistance of a Ni alloy by plastic working the alloy under predetermined conditions followed by heat treatment in a specific temp. range.
CONSTITUTION: A Ni alloy is plastic worked by above 20% at below 500°C and heat treated at 800W950°C for a predetermined time. Even if the alloy is heated to 650W750°C after the treatment, it hardly undergoes intergranular corrosion and the intergranular corrosion resistance can be improved remarkably. By applying this method to a Ni alloy the intergranular corrosion of which is advanced by heating to 650W750°C, the intergranular corrosion resistance of the alloy can be improved.
