Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in magnetism of an electrical sheet due to aging and that in high magnetic field iron loss by coating the sheet with a soln. of an alkali metal salt and subjecting the coated sheet to decarburization annealing in a weakly oxidizing atmosphere not to oxidize Al and Si contained in the sheet. CONSTITUTION:In manufacture of an electrical sheet, the carbon content of raw material is reduced as much as possible by vacuum degassing or the like. The rolled sheet is coated with a soln. of an alkali metal salt such as K2CO3, KCl, Na2CO3 or NaCl in an amt. of 0.3-2.0 g/m<2> and then subjected to decarburization annealing at 900- 1050 deg.C in a weakly oxidizing atmosphere having the ratio of the partial press. of steam and that of hydrogen below 0.15. Thus, the C content of the steel is reduced, improving the magnetic aging property. Al and Si contained in the sheet are hardly oxidized in the atmosphere, and hence deterioration in high magnetic field iron loss due to the oxide layer can be prevented, resulting in a high grade electrical sheet.
