Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain roller surface temperature at an always even and constant temperature and making fixing sure by providing a means of heating and controlling the heat roller separately from the inside and outside and varying the width of the heating means from outside.

CONSTITUTION: A heat roller 3 has one heater 5 on the inner side and has long and short two infrared lamps 8, 9 on the outer side, by which it is so controlled that the temperatures of the inside and outside become nearly the same. The heat roller 3 comprises covering a core 17 with an elastic body 16 such as silicone rubber. The surface temperature of the heat roller 3 is detected with a temperature detection roller 10. A heat sensitive element 21 is buried in the core 17 and the core temperature is detected in the absence of contact by a temperature detector 23 to maintain the temperature of the roller inside and outside nearly the same. Heating of the rubber surface is selectively performed in correspondence to recording paper width by lamps 8, 9 of different lengths having a reflecting mirror 20. By this manner, the roller surface temperature is kept constant and fixing may be performed surely.
