Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a bicycle wheel which enables a simple assembly with a hub into which a shaft penetrates and production with an excellent yield because of less loss of material in punching a plurality of arms out from a sheet of band-shaped metal.
CONSTITUTION: A base plate 1 having a plurality of arms 2 connected to one another at the root thereof is so punched out from one sheet of metal as to form a comb shape as a whole. Both side edge sections of the arms 2 are folded downward to form vertical ribs 3 for reinforcement of the arms 2. The root section of the arms 2 are folded upward to form a curved flange 6. The arms 2 are radially arranged in such a manner that the end surfaces of the flanges 6 are brought into contact with that of the adjoining flange to form a cylindrical flange 7. Two sheets of the base plates 1 thus formed are faced to each other. The flange 7 of each plate is connected to the circumference of either end of a hub 8 into which a shaft penetrates. The end of the arms 2 are fixed to a reinforcement rib 12 for a rim 11, on which the tire and the tube are supported, with a ribet 13 or the like.
