Abstract

PURPOSE: A new mud gun uses a swivel apparatus with a particular mechcnism for closing a tap hole of a blast furnace. Such mechanism enables a signal liquid pressure cylinder to effectuate a large-angle arc-swing and permit continuous gun operation of pressure contact and swing removal.
CONSTITUTION: One end of a gun supporting arm 5 is connected to a gun barrel 9. The other end of the arm 5 and a liquid pressure cylinder 19 are connected by axis to a center post so that both the arm 5 and the cylinder 19 can freely swing around the axis of the center post. The liquid pressure cylinder 19 can push or pull a rod 21 contained therein in the direction to the center post. When filling mud, the edge of the barrel 9 is pressure contacted to a tap hole 2.
