Abstract
PURPOSE:To activate a cathode surface by temporarily stopping operation after high flush, emission aging, and gas aging processes and by performing those processes again and a filament aging process, when aging a color cathode-ray tube after exhaustion. CONSTITUTION:Aging is done according to processes as shown in table 2. Namely, although emission aging is carried out after a high flush, a voltage applied to G1 is increased several times as high as usual to increase a current, so that activation will be done mainly by a current. Therefore, no damage appears at the cathode and its temperature becomes low, so that Ba will not vapor. Then, gas aging is done for impacting G2 and G3 and after the operation is stopped for about five minutes, processes of high flushing, emission aging, and gas aging are done. The voltage applied is decreased lower to lighten the impact, and filament aging is carried out in order to stabilize the cathode surface. In this way, its life is prolonged.
