Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent picture by removing the unbalance of the luminous spectrum intensity of a fluorescent substance in each color, by adequately coloring the panel of a picture tube for filter effects.
CONSTITUTION: A substance obtained by adding Mn, Fe, Cr, etc., to a raw glass material by approximate 5% is colored in purplish red in comparison with normal glass, and the panel (face plate) is given chromaticity values x=0.291±0.04 and y=0.312±0.004; and at the spectral transmission rate in the visual-ray range, curve A shows the spectral transmission rate of normal panel glass, and curve B shows the spectral transmission rate of green in luminous wavelength range between 400 to 700nm adjusted in each wavelength. Therefore, this glass allows purplish-red light to pass through selectively, and covers that a normal red fluorescent substance is inferior in terms of luminous spectrum intensity to either green or blue bluorescent substance, thereby obtaining a color picture with hues which are extremely hard to appear.
