Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Tetramethylthiuram monosulfide II is prepared by reacting tetramethylthiuram disulfide I with stoichiometric amounts of HCN and NH3 at 20W 70°C, pref. 30W60°C.
EFFECT: Precise control of pH value of the reaction system is unnecessary. Little side reactions. Easy purification. Use of stoichiometric amount of HCN reduces the problems inherent to separation, processing, waste water treatment etc. There is no metal component in the waste water, and the incineration and disposal can also be simplified.
USE: Vulcanization accelerator for rubber chemicals
