Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the detection of a failed fuel with ease, in a nuclear fuel assembly sealed by a tagged gas, by means of enabling the tagged gas to be dispersed in a cladding tube from a sealing vessel of the tagged gas when the reactor is operation.
CONSTITUTION: A nuclear fuel element contains a plurality of fuel pellets 2 in a cladding tube 1, and further has a capsule 8 in which a tagged gas differentiated in a mixing composition every fuel elements is contained. A needle-like terminal 12 is present, and a spring 11 fixed in a compressed state at ordinary temp, by an alloy of a low mp. 13, is provided. An upper disk 9 to which the needle-like terminal 12 contacts, is thinly constituted. If the temp. is raised by means of being operated by the reactor, the alloy of a low mp, 13 is melted, and the spring 11 is released, thereby the upper disk 9 is broken. By such means, the tagged gas can be dispersed with ease into the cladding tube.
