Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a granular disposing material having high strength and superior oil removal efficiency at the time of disposing waste water by heat treating granules consisting of attapulgus clay made of powder adsorbing substance, attapulgite, and alumina gel as a binder.
CONSTITUTION: 10W50 wt% (as alumina component) of alumina gel as a binder is mixed into 90W50 wt% of the above attapulgus clay having neele-like structure, an average granular size of about 0.1W50μ and a surface area over 100 m2/g. The mixt. is then granulated by extrusion and heat treated at 70W250°C to obtain a desired granular waste water disposing material. This material is suitable for purification of municipal sewage and industrial waste water,esp. oil-contg. waste water, and by suitably selecting the form it shows its disposing power to all of oily contaminants dispersed or dissolved
