Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In combusting EP-ash in a swirling jet flow furnace, combustion gas is made to stay long the the furnace so as to completely combust ammonia produced by decomposition of ammonium sulfate. Ammonium sulfate is decomposed into NH3 and SO3 in swirling jet flow bed 1, and NH3 is in turn decomposed into nitrogen gas and water, whereas SO3 is decomposed into SO2. Here, in order that these decomposed substances may not be re-united in the combustion gas after cooling, height of hollow sleeve portion 13 is made sufficiently high, preferably more than 5 meters, to lower the content of ammonia at the outlet of the sleeve portion 13.
